Feeling safe and secure are important for any homeowner but particularly for those in their older years.
For one 85 year old lady and ex-magistrate, the perfect solution to all her home requirements was found by choosing a park home in a peaceful and welcoming development in the heart of rural Cheshire.
Peggie Thornber, 85, moved to the development when she was 83. A widow and having spent many years caring for her sister who has Downs Syndrome and has a fear of stairs, a bungalow seemed the only option.
Yet, when searching the property market for a suitable home Peggie found that they were often cramped and gloomy until she discovered the option of park home living.
“As soon as I visited the park I knew that I would be happy here,” said Peggie. “Everyone was so friendly, the homes were filled with light and had lovely views and in addition, the living costs were much lower than a typical home – I couldn’t wait to move in.”
Peggie made the move from a town house in Cheadle Hulme at the age of 83 after having a successful career as a secretary, an army wife and a magistrate.
With lower running costs, reduced council tax and the added social benefits of living in a community there is a continuing growing trend for people over the age of 45 to choose the benefits of park home lifestyle.
“Moving home at any age can be challenging but I have settled so well here that I don’t have a single regret,” said Peggie. “I am looking forward to the new chapter in my life in my lovely new home that makes getting around so easy and allows me to keep my independence completely.”
