A British Bolthole and a place in the sun!

A couple have chosen park home living to ensure they have the freedom to enjoy life the way they want now that they have retired.
Tony and Suzanne Higgins had ambitions to travel the world and explore Britain in their motor home now that they had time to do so. Living in, paying for and maintaining a large, traditional home was proving costly and unnecessary and, when a search for a bungalow in the Cheadle area proved fruitless, they decided to explore other options in the area.
“We decided that there were more important things than bricks and mortar and that we wanted a welcoming home in an equally welcoming community that didn’t demand too much of our time in its upkeep,” said Tony. “When we visited the park home development we just fell in love with the simplicity of the lifestyle and, as our costs were significantly reduced, we knew we would enjoy the freedom to make the memories we had dreamed of whilst progressing our careers and raising our family.”
Tony and Suzanne purchased their home at Chester’s Croft in Cheadle Hulme through an assisted selling scheme which meant Serenity Parks took away the hassle of selling their old home whilst also eliminating the costs associated with selling a property. Furthermore, there is no stamp duty attributed to these types of homes meaning moving costs were considerably reduced in comparison to moving to a more conventional property. Additionally, due to a change in legalities in 2013, park home residents now enjoy greater residential benefits recognising their homes as their permanent address.
“Our biggest fear was giving up bricks and mortar and freehold but our sons were both incredibly supportive of our move and encouraged us to enjoy our retirement – finding somewhere to live that felt like home from the beginning was the most important thing,” said Tony. “We can’t believe how happy we are here and we would encourage anyone else to explore the opportunities offered by living in these wonderful communities.”
Suzanne concluded; “This was a simple decision for us to make really as when you work you don’t have time and when you have time you don’t have money. This move released equity from our previous home and allows us to maintain a lifestyle we can enjoy.”
