It is always with some anticipation that the Serenity Parks team wait to see what the ‘Colour of the Year will be and recently Dulux unveiled theirs, ‘Brave Ground.’
A warm and enveloping hue, the colour is a shift away from the grey palettes that have dominated our rooms schemes in recent years. Its 2021 colour is a shift towards more warm and cosy tones and seems to be a reflection of our desire to make our houses more homely as we have spent so much more time in them in 2020.
Marianne Shillingford, creative director at Dulux UK commented; “For many of us, lockdown has served to emphasise how important our home environment has become. It has been the place where we work, learn, relax. It can lift us up, nurture us, comfort us.
“We continue to live through uncertain times and in 2021, the warm and grounding tones of Brave Ground will allow us to find certainty in the strength from the very ground beneath our feet. Emboldening us to go forward and begin to live again and giving us the flex to adapt to the ever-changing circumstances we face.”
The colour is incredibly versatile, providing a backdrop to a calming and relaxing background, or being a wonderful complementary colour to bolder colours such as inky blues, russets and myriad shades of green.
“Brave Ground is a colour of the year that really gives interior designers, or those who manage their home schemes themselves great flexibility to work the colour into their rooms with ease,” said Marie Hanby, Marketing Manager, Serenity Parks. “So much of what we have already will work with it perfectly and I guess that is the true beauty of interior design; making changes but moving away from the throwaway culture that we have seen in the recent past. Such a colour will allow us to continue to stamp individuality on our homes making them truly special and a place where you can retreat from the current madness of the world.”
